About Dr. Stephen X. Solfanelli

Located at 243 Penn Ave, Scranton, PA 18503, Dr. Stephen X. Solfanelli operates as a dentist serving Scranton in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 6 am–11 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (570) 346-2033. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 28 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Went here to get one wisdom tooth out with just local anesthetic. First of all his staff is so friendly i would go there just to hang out with these amazing ladies they were great. As for the tooth removal I did not feel a single thing which I was terrified for. I took a sedative before and was essentially out of it and don’t remember much with just a sedative and then local. He was so kind, warm and caring I plan on going back to him when I need my next two out and referring as many people as I can to him! This was beyond a great experience. I wish i could go back more often but unfortunately I don’t need my teeth pulled all the time!

Last week I went to Dr. Solfanelli to get 2 teeth extracted. No offense but visiting a dentist for procedures is not exactly my favorite place to go. When I am in the chair because of anxiety ( and Pain) I watch every move the dentist makes- what tool he is putting in my mouth, what is going to do with it, etc. Both teeth were not too 'healthy'- with the top of one at the gum level. Long story short I was relieved when he said that he 'got both of them' . I thought he meant that he was able to pull the one tooth with the roots NOT breaking. Next thing I know he was suturing up where he had to 'move' my gum ( I guess) to get at the tooth that was at gum level. I didn't even know he had pulled BOTH teeth ! In the 'old days' they would use pliers. Not sure how its done these days. I didn't see him insert any type of pliers in my mouth. Nor did I feel like a tooth was being 'pulled out'! If in the future I need this type of dental care this is the "go to " place for me! Great job!!

He is the only surgeon I will ever go to!! I've been to some dental offices that would make you run out with nightmares but this office is fantastic. I had to have a few teeth removed and I was overly nervous and shaking. My insurance only covered the general anesthesia but he gave me something to help me relax first. I love this surgeon. He is amazing!!!

**PLEASE READ** Dr. Stephan was professional and generally a decent guy. However, I had a horrible experience at reception. We were chewed out by an older blonde receptionist who had a bad attitude from the moment we walked in the office. The woman was angry because we hadn't been returning her calls, which we had been waiting for. We realized that we had never updated our contact info with the office so we apologized sincerely. She continued to nastily rant that she called the number numerous times, also stating that she knew it was disconnected and yet continued to call for months. We didn't even receive a letter, which would've made more sense than calling a phone you know is disconnected. She refused to schedule another appointment so we can never go back. My wisdom teeth are grinding into the rest of my teeth, desparately in need of surgery and now we need wait 2 months until my next dentist appointment to referred to a new oral surgeon.

Very good Doctor. I had two withdom teeth removed by him last summer. Dr. Solfanelly addressed all of my concerns any I feel surgery was performed very professional. I had only local anesthesia, but did not feel any pain and almost no discomfort during the procedure. No issues after surgery either. Now everything is nicely healed. Thank you Doctor! P.S. Cost was also very reasonable.
